What I'm wearing.... School girl grunge

So the weather picked up and it was actually sunny and quite hot would you believe it, i hope it actually lasts longer than one day though. But it meant bare legs and no coat was allowed yay!! I love 90s/grunge fashion as you can probably tell, as quite a lot of my outfits are a bit grungey and have a 90s vibe. This particular outfit reminded me of something the girls from the cult classic 'The Craft' would wear. It was one of my fave films growing up, I think I'd fit in quite nicely with Nancy and the gang in this grungey schoolgirl esque get up.

I got this fab tartan dress from primark last year and I've only worn it a couple of times. I love the navy and green colours and the collar and bow detail is so cute. I made it a little bit girly with my homemade fluffy socks and my Bethans. Adding to the witchy vibe I wore my black fedora (the perfect witch hat) and black lips. My trusty backpack completed the outfit adding to the school girl vibe. Even though it's quite simple I absolutely love this outfit and im definitely gonna make sure I wear the dress more this season, it's great with tights too for those colder days. They did a few of these tartan dresses in different colours and I really hope they do more this year as I really regret not getting the classic red tartan one too. A girl can never have too much tartan right?!

Vintage Aquascutum, velvet and Faux fur

So the clocks have gone back and so our days are getting shorter, darker and chillier. I can never accept its winter and still like to get my legs out even if it is on the chilly side, aslong as you've got a coat you're ok right?! So for this outfit I wore a velvet skater skirt, I spoke about these in one of my previous posts but incase you didn't see I have three of these from primark and got them last year and the year before. I am hoping they will do them again this year as I love them and would love more colours as they go with so much and are gorgeous for the winter and velvet never really dates. This particular one is a rich burgundy colour and I think my favourite of the three. I teamed it with a vintage Aquascutum shirt I got from a vintage fair, I love this shirt the check print is fab and it's great for layering as the collar looks great poking out over cable knit jumpers. Again it never really dates as it's the classic Aquascutum check. I actually wanted to wear navy socks but discovered I don't actually own any out of the many pairs I do have ( I am a sock addict), so this chunky dark grey pair had to do. Again the Bethans came out I really can't get enough of these shoes and I added my beige vintage faux fur coat as unfortunately it is basically winter.

Asking Alexandria, Stripes and Chiffon

So i've been wanting to see 'Asking Alexandria' for soo long, but they very rarely play the UK. As although the band are British they have moved to America so are mostly touring around the U.S. and the rest of the world as they are a lot bigger over there than in the UK. They announced a UK tour quite a few months back and I knew I couldn't miss out, I kept meaning to buy tickets then the day I decided to they had sold out, just my luck! We were going to go to another date instead but last week I managed to get hold of a pair of tickets on stub hub for Rock City and was so excited as I finally had tickets in hand and only a few days to wait.
I was working in the day and had gone past the venue earlier in the day and there were already crazy people queing outside at lunch time. I met my friend from work and we went to our fave spankys for some Rubys chicken, although we were very disappointed when we was told they no longer did fruilli on tap, that was our go to place for our fave meal/drink. So we ended up getting a not so cheap bottle of rose.
We headed to Rock City just in time to grab a drink and get a good spot before they came on. The crowd was very young and I did feel quite old, there was a lot of crazy hair and gothic clothing and very excited teenie fans. It was quite odd as im used to more of an indie crowd with the gigs I usually go to. Although with the hysteria form the young girls in the crowd you could of mistaken it for a 1d concert. The band came on with the anthemic 'pray for me' which has an epic intro that was perfect for their entrance. I was pleased with the set as they did a good mix of old and new songs, even though they didn't do a few of my faves. I guess it is hard to fit 3 albums into 90mins though.

A lot of people have slated Danny Worsnop for his voice after he tore a vocal cord a couple of years back. Since then his voice has changed and matured as he has mastered a way to make it so he could still sing after the injury. From seeing them live, yes when he sings the older songs it has changed, but this is obviously going to be the case as the songs were recorded before the injury. There were a lot of the deep and high screams that he didn't sing in the same way they are on the record but I don't think that matters, he still has an amazing voice. You can actually hear so much more of his vocals during the live set as he does a lot more actual singing. I also love the husky rasp he has in his voice now and it's a classic rock tone which may be different to before but still fab. He certainly dresses like an American cowboy but I was still fangirling and with that accent, oh my!!

Benjamin Bruce's softer voice sounded fab on joint vocals and the rest of the band played brilliantly too and the set was on point. There was a slight hiccup with the power on the last song (before the encore) and the set was halted for 5-10 mins but Danny kept everyone amused trying to get Ben to get naked. It ended with 'poison' and I felt sad it was over but super happy I'd finally seen them and actually a little bit tipsy after even more wine. We went to Rescue rooms for a couple of cocktails (with brollys) before catching the last bus home, work always ruins our fun!

I actually fitted in quite well with the black attire everyone seemed to be sporting as I wore my black Loving Youth Maxi slit top with black lace bralet underneath. I teamed them with my motel rocks stripe jordan jeans and in keeping with the Black and white I wore my white socks with black fluffy trim that I made. I'm still obsessed with my Bethan's so wore them, they are actually quite a suitable shoe for a gig with their steel toe caps.

Tea, cake and charity shops!!

So my friend came over to visit and we thought we'd actually have a wander out and go for some tea and cake and maybe a spot of lunch. We went to a cute tearooms quite local to me called Madhatters. It is Alice and wonderland themed with cute decor and delicious cakes. They have a different selection of light bites and snacks aswell as homemade cakes each day, we went for raspberry and blueberry drizzle and lemon drizzle. Of course we had to sample eachothers and although both cakes were gorgeous and so moist I was a little envious of my friend's as her lemon drizzle had buttercream that was to die for! The decor is super cute with fairy lights, leaves and even cakestands on the ceiling. There's unmatching shabby chic furniture and lamps which I adore, and pictures and canvases aswell as other Alice themed bits and bobs dotted around. We got a pot of tea each and were given vintage China teacups and saucers, the only thing that was a little disappointing were the teapots weren't vintage China, but that didn't matter too much. They do afternoon tea but you have to book in advance so we may have to book and go another time as it was really nice.

After that we went to a couple of charity shops and some cute homeware shops. I got some bargains in one shop and walked away with 4 things for £12.50. I got this amazing real leather jacket for only £4 which is crazy, I wasn't sure about it at first as it's quite oversized and a longish style but I actually really liked it on, and how could I refuse at that price. I also got this cream flapper style fringe top that also has some beading detail for only £3.50. I love anything with a sunflower print and this cute tee was only £2 it's a little faded but I thought that kind of added to feel of it and it has a real 90s vibe. Lastly I got this crochet striped jumper for only £3, im loving all the lemony/lime colours around at the moment so really liked this when I spotted it.

We decided we were still way too full from our cake and were pushing it a little for time, so we sacrificed lunch and had a drive to another local town to a couple more charity shops. I didn't do so well with these ones but I did however manage to pick up another coat i probably don't need. I spotted it in the window as it is a bright yellow tartan/check, very clueless! I tried it on and knew I couldn't leave it behind. For £5.99 even if I barely wore it it'd still be worth it. I got this gorgeous silk Versace style chain print blouse from another shop for only £3.75. The colours are so nice and actually look fab underneath the leather jacket I got.

We had time to nip for one more treat and get some krispy kremes before I had to be back for the school run. We had a lovely catch up and I think I did pretty well with all these purchases for around £20, I really do love charity shops!!

The weather was pretty crappy so I didn't manage to get the best pictures of my outfit for the day but I wore my bargain skirt I got from Primark a couple of weeks ago for only £2 in the sale. I'd seen it on a few people's instagrams and had liked it so was so happy when I saw it at that price, I also got it in the grey but I haven't worn that yet. It's a sweatshirt material with wrap around sleeves to give the illusion of a jumper wrapped around it. The style is quite casual but also has a sports luxe vibe, but I thought I could grunge the black one up a bit. I teamed it with a tartan shirt tucked in, black fishnets and my Bethans.

What I'm wearing.... Creams, Camels and Capes

So the weather has turned crazy, one minute it's sunny the next it's like a hurricane and there's dustbins flying around!! Winter is definitely here and it seems it's here to stay. Before the Monsoon weather began it was quite nice on the odd occasion so I decided to embrace autumns colour palettes, but didn't need to wrap up too much as the sun was still out. I do love bright colours but I can tone it down too and do love A/W shades. In particular I like a lot of the camel/beige shades and the capes that are around at the moment.

I actually got this camel Cape a few years ago from French Connection and have barely worn it, it's so similar to styles on the high street at the moment and is a thickish wool material, it has fluffy Pom poms and a hood so it's pretty perfect for the season. Capes are quite handy as an alternative to a coat as sometimes when you're layering up or have chunky knitwear on its hard to get your coat on top without looking like the Michelin man. So they allow you to wear as many layers as you want and just simply drape the Cape on top. I wore my wool check shorts that I absolutely love for winter, the print is gorgeous and never really dates. They're quite cosy due to the material and look great bare legged or with chunky tights. As there's so many colours in the print they look great with coloured tights too, I love wearing them with my forest green or burgundy tights. I got this gorgeous 3d floral sweatshirt from American Apparel quite a while back and it's great for all seasons as it's actually quite thick, although it's all made of a mesh like material. It's cream with a floral design all over and even though I don't wear it that much it's one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe and I can't part with it. I tucked it into the shorts and wore cream lace socks to tie in with the top and suede effect sandals. I got this fedora a couple of weeks back and it's the perfect colour for this season and has a real autumny feel. The sun was out (for a bit) so the Carmens came out, any excuse to wear them. I kept accessories minimal as there was a lot of detail in the outfit so just wore a small cross necklace and a vintage tan leather backpack.
